Project Background:
Strangways Zone Substation is a new rural substation project to replace an existing sub near Humpty Doo, NT. Construction commenced in January 2014 and completion was anticipated by the end of 2015. The project presented challenges as the existing supply had to be maintained during much of the construction.
Our Involvement:
A major engineering company approached us to supply nylon jacketed LV cables to this project, as a major cable company had won the order but had failed to deliver on time and furthermore supplied the cable to an incorrect specification. The customer was on a very tight time line, with liquidated damages approaching and the entire project potentially being held up by cable runs.
Amplex promised a 4 week lead time for nylon jacketed and brass tape screened, PVC sheathed instrumentation and control cables.
Supply was achieved 3 weeks from order date, including delivery to the outskirts of Darwin. Subsequent orders were supplied in similar times.
Scope of Supply:
Low voltage control & instrumentation cables, including brass tape screened and nylon jacketed.
