Albury 132kV Substation Secondary Systems Upgrade

Project Background

The 132kV Substation at Albury was upgraded as part of TransGrid’s investment in safe, reliable and efficient supply of electricity to the southern NSW region. The upgrade included replacement of secondary systems including replacement of a large amount of LV cabling.

Our Involvement

Amplex was approached by a large electrical engineering client to supply LV cable that was compliant with TransGrid’s LV cable specifications. Amplex drew on extensive experience with TransGrid specifications to design and manufacture LV control and power cables including copper tape screened cables, SDI’s and data cables. The project required complicated delivery schedules and deliveries to both the client’s workshop and the construction site within very specific time frames. Amplex achieved this easily, even organising mechanical lifting and foliage pruning to ensure problem free site deliveries. The supply scope extended to constant force springs for the termination of the copper screens.

Scope of Supply

Low voltage control & instrumentation cables, including copper tape screened, SDI and data, and constant force springs.
